03.04.2023 : JMCM Conference – Smain Laacher

On Monday, April 3, from 11:45 to 12:45, the CJMM welcomes Smain Laacher who is a professor of sociology at the University of Strasbourg. Smain Laacher was also an assessor judge representing the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) at the National Asylum Court (CNDA) in Paris. This conference entitled “À quelles conditions un récit peut paraître crédible en matière de demande d’asile ?” will provide an opportunity to examine a number of questions such as what is a credible story? What is the difference between verisimilitude and truth? How to make people believe in the unbelievable without proof? What is an intimate conviction and what is its relation to the crucial question of proof?

The conference will take place at the Jean-Brillant Pavilion in room B-4325.
