L’Europe : combien de divisions ?

Wednesday, April 2025 — 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Hybrid format – Upon registration (mandatory), a Zoom link will be sent at a later date. A limited number of seats (just under fifteen) are also available in person on the 5th floor (Université de Montréal building, 3744 Jean Brillant), room 525-5, where the event will take place.

In an international context marked by political instability, the persistence of disinformation, and ongoing uncertainties surrounding the war in Ukraine, this roundtable aims to foster a discussion on the internal dynamics undermining the political cohesion of several European states.

The goal of this conversation is to provide a comparative overview of national political divisions, with a particular focus on Central and Eastern European countries, while also addressing cases from Western Europe. With insights from expert researchers, the discussion will explore how these internal dynamics affect current debates on the Russia-Ukraine war and the future of the European security architecture.

Speakers:

  • Dr. Luca Sollai (Moderator, Université de Montréal)

  • Prof. Jean Crombois (American University in Bulgaria)

  • Prof. Magdalena Dembinska (Université de Montréal)

  • Dr. Frédéric Labarre (Royal Military College of Canada / UQAM)

  • Dr. Simona Soare (Lancaster University)
