20.06.2024 : CJMM and CÉRIUM conference – Élections législatives françaises : à quoi s’attendre ?

The European elections held on June 9th marked a historic breakthrough for the National Rally (RN) in France, a far-right party led by Jordan Bardella (formerly Marine Le Pen). With over 31% of the vote, the RN emerged as the leading party. This result signifies a significant defeat for President Emmanuel Macron’s party, whose list garnered only 14.9% of the votes cast.

Following these unprecedented results, the French president decided to dissolve the French National Assembly, thereby triggering legislative elections on June 30th and July 8th. What can we expect from these sudden elections? Gain more clarity about this election during a virtual roundtable organized by the Jean Monnet Centre of Montreal and CÉRIUM.
