27.03.2026: JMCM Webinar
How can a fieldwork project in Europe be designed and organized when based in North America? What methodological, logistical, and institutional challenges does this involve for students in the social sciences?
To explore these questions, the Jean Monnet Centre Montréal is pleased to invite you to the webinar “Designing a Fieldwork Project in Europe from North America / Construire un projet de terrain en Europe depuis l’Amérique du Nord”, which will take place on March 27, 2026, from 11:30 to 12:15 (Montreal time).
This session will take the form of a conversation between Elizabeth Hessek, PhD candidate in Geography at the Université de Montréal, and Florent Guntz, PhD candidate in Political Science at the Université de Montréal. Together, they will share their research experiences and discuss the different steps involved in preparing a fieldwork project in Europe, including defining the project, gaining access to the field, addressing practical constraints, building institutional collaborations, and developing strategies for conducting fieldwork from abroad.
