Luna Vives – La Presse – Roxham Road : A tighter border won’t solve anything – 4 March 2023
Over the past two decades, Canada has seen an increasing number of migrants arriving at the land border to seek asylum. Due to the Canada-US Safe Third Country Agreement (STCA) and the proximity of major cities in both countries, Quebec has seen a disproportionate number of arrivals. This agreement prevents the refoulement of asylum seekers who cross the border between official ports of entry, such as at Roxham Road, to the US.
