On Friday, October 20th, join Ian Garner (Queens University) for the presentation of his book “Z Generation: Into the Heart of Russia’s Fascist Youth (2023)” during the event titled “Russia’s Fascist Youth: A Militarized Future.” The event will take place from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at McGill University, Arts Building, Room 260.
Description: Ian Garner will be talking on his new book, Z Generation: Into the Heart of Russia’s Fascist Youth (Oxford University Press), which reveals the dark realities of youth fascism in Russia. In this journey through the postmodern subjectivity of today’s Russian youth, we’ll discover how the youth politics of Putin’s state have been refined over the last two decades. What does the state see in its next generation? How are they appealing to young Russians using social media? And what hopes do we have that the next generation will reject militarization?
