Jean Monnet Debate 2026: Reflecting on EU–Canada Relations with Stéphane Dion
The Jean Monnet Centre Montréal had the pleasure of hosting the Jean Monnet Debate 2026 at McGill University, marking the 50th anniversary of EU–Canada relations.
We were honoured to welcome Ambassador Stéphane Dion, whose keynote address explored the evolving relationship between Canada and the European Union. His intervention highlighted both the growing convergence between partners and the distinct political paths that continue to shape this unique transatlantic relationship.
The discussion provided a timely opportunity to reflect on cooperation, shared values, and the future of EU–Canada relations in a rapidly changing global context.
The event concluded with the presentation of the JMCM Student Awards 2026, recognizing outstanding student research, as well as the George Ross Fieldwork Scholarships, supporting fieldwork in Europe.
We would like to warmly thank our partners and all participants for contributing to the success of this event.
